Leading voice for equality to headline charity event for Melbourne business women

Well-known advocate for gender equality and former CEO of Swimming Australia, Leigh Russell, will speak at an upcoming event for Melbourne’s business women. Leigh is an accomplished leader, author, media personality, mentor and change-maker who has a long association with advocacy for women in sport and in the workplace.

Leigh will probe her experiences working in male-dominated elite sporting environments such as the AFL, and share her vision for championing equality from boardrooms to sports fields across Australia.

The event is hosted by Collective, an organisation that supports women in business through collaboration and mentoring. Collective is supported by Mas National, a not-for-profit employment and career development organisation, and has previously held events in Adelaide and Hobart. This is Collective’s first event in Melbourne after its planned launch in 2020 was postponed due to COVID.

“We’re so excited to be hosting a live event in Melbourne,” said Emma, Program Facilitator at Collective. “Collective has always been about providing an inclusive environment for business women from all backgrounds to come together to share stories, ideas and inspire each other,” she said.

Collective has chosen The Period Project as its charity partner for the event. The Period Project is an Australia-wide initiative that provides support, menstruation products and essential living items to women who are experiencing homelessness and housing uncertainty.

Collective supports a number of charities with a percentage of ticket sales from every event going to non-profit organisations who work directly with women and children in need. To date, Collective has raised over $25,000 for its charity partners.

The Collective luncheon will be held on 21st April at Greenfields Albert Park and tickets are on sale now. Book here to avoid disappointment.
