Rare & first ever built Dick Johnson Mustang up for $9 unreserved auction.

BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – [FEBRUARY 21, 2020] – The first of only 30 special Dick Johnson special edition Ford Mustangs will be auctioned by GraysOnline. The car – which is otherwise completely sold out - is the culmination of more than a decade of dreaming by the five-times Australian touring car champion.

Featuring a hand-built 850hp supercharged V8 engine, the Dick Johnson Limited Edition by Herrod Performance Mustang was personally overseen by Johnson, who selected each feature himself.

Build No.1 has been previously allocated, with all 30 vehicles sold-out before being built, however a special situation means that this car has become the only available on the market.

On top of that special engine, the car features a beefed-up 10-speed automatic transmission, custom trim, badging, unique body kit, decals, wheels, suspension and braking systems. It is a car equally at home on road or track. Build No.1 also features the additional safety of a removeable half-roll cage for track days.

Three-time Bathurst 1000 winner Johnson bubbles with energy when speaking about the car.

“We’ve had fantastic success with the Mustang on the track and I wanted to build something to celebrate that for the road,” Johnson said.

“This car is much more than a body kit and some stickers. This car is the ultimate road-going Mustang, and I promise that there is no other Mustang on the road quite like this one.”

“It is a tailored, bespoke car and has definitely been of interest to buyers who perhaps otherwise wouldn't buy a Mustang.”

Michael Bray, Head of Auto at GraysOnline said “This is a truly unique vehicle which will go down as part of Australian motorsport history. Opportunities to own such a rare vehicle don’t often come up, so we are excited to see who and where the new home for this vehicle will be.”

The auction begins on Friday February 21 at 6pm (AEST), with a starting bid of $9 and will be sold unreserved. Bidding will close on Wednesday February 26 at 8pm (AEST). Interested buyers can view the vehicle at 131-153 Main Beach Rd, Pinkenba QLD between the hours of 8:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Click here to view full auction details.
