The Adelaide University Union is excited to announce the return of two iconic Orientation Week events to the University of Adelaide! Generations of new students to the University of Adelaide have enjoyed unforgettable experiences as part of their O’Week journey. Over the years many different events and activities have come and gone but two have firmly established themselves in O’Week folklore.
For decades the O'Ball rocked uni crowds and was the must-attend event in the Orientation program. Throughout the Nineties and Noughties, iconic Australian bands such as
The Avalanches, Regurgitator, Spiderbait, Grinspoon, TISM, Frenzal Rhomb and Sarah Blasko took to the stage to welcome students to the new university year.
Going back even further, Skulduggery has been a rite of passage for new students since 1896, run by the Adelaide Medical Student Society. For the past decade it has been hosted off-campus, but finally makes its’ long-awaited return to the grounds of the University.
In 2020 these two iconic events will combine and return to campus in one massive night of entertainment featuring huge line-up bands, headlined by Confidence Man, fresh from their success in the Hottest 100, with support from Alice Ivy and yet to be announced leading local supports. The concert will take place on a full outdoor festival stage located on the University Math Lawns with custom bars, great drink specials and food trucks all nestled amongst the stunning and historic University of Adelaide grounds.
We are winding back the clock for a night not to be missed. Students have had the welcome lectures, the campus tours and the program talks, so now it’s time put on their dancing shoes for O’Ball/ Skullduggery! Be a part of the history, and come and see the age-old Orientation Week tradition for yourself, after all, there’s more to university than lectures and tutorials.

Confidence Man are unarguably one of the hottest acts on the planet right now. A portable party that’s levelled dance floors and flattened festival crowds as it’s rolled out across the world, their performances are custom designed to make you dance and lose your cool.
Alice Ivy’s eclectic signature sound spans sample-influenced soul, hip-hop and electronic pop that she brings to life in a live setting by demonstrating her proficiency as a multi-instrumentalist. With a trio of singles, “Get Me A Drink feat. E^St”, “Be Friends” and “Chasing Stars feat. Bertie Blackman” on high rotation at triple j and a reputation for explosive live performances Alice Ivy is fast becoming recognised as one of Australia’s most versatile and exhilarating artists.
O’Ball/ Skullduggery is proudly presented by Adelaide University Union, Adelaide Medical Students' Society – AMSS and The University of Adelaide.
The Adelaide University Union was established in 1895 and since then has always had the aim of making student life fun and accessible and to give students a voice at the University.
