Newcastle Caravan Camping Lifestyle Expo is set to attract huge crowds for 10th anniversary show

FRIDAY 31st January 2020: The Caravan Camping Industry Association (CCIA) NSW is bringing the best of outdoor adventuring to the Hunter region for three big days next week.

The Expo is one of The Newcastle Entertainment Centre and Showground’s biggest events of the year, bringing over 160 exhibitors on-site to showcase the latest caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper trailers, slide-ons, tents, camping equipment, 4WD accessories, holiday parks and popular tourism destinations to the venue .

“Australians of all ages are rediscovering – and redefining the caravan and camping lifestyle as they seek to connect with nature and the outdoors in regional NSW,” said Lyndel Gray, CEO of CCIA NSW.

The caravan and camping sector recorded its strongest ever performance with more than 4.4 million caravan and camping trips taken in the year ending June 2019, according to new data from Tourism Research Australia (TRA).

This represented a 4.3 per cent increase over 2018 figures and accounted for a strong growth in visitor nights for the same period, which jumped by 6 per cent to deliver more than 17.4 million nights in NSW.

“These strong results come off the back of a continuing shift in Australian preferences towards domestic holidays,” Ms Gray said.

“And the industry is continually responding with major new innovations that continue to enhance the holiday experience”.

Caravanning and camping contribute significantly to the local tourism economy of the Hunter and NSW North Coast. These regions - renowned for their pristine beaches, top wineries, and outdoor adventure experiences – hosted over 1.7 million camping and caravan trips last year.1

Visitors spent a total of 1.2 million caravanning and camping nights in the Hunter, a 5% increase on the previous year, and 5.9 million caravanning and camping nights in the NSW North Coast, up 9% from the previous year.1

The Expo is set to attract outdoor enthusiasts from across the region with its amazing line up of products, experts and holiday services.

Kids can enjoy FREE activities including a live reptile display and jumping castles with an inflatable slide.
