Bushfire Relief for Business

R J Sanderson & Associates will offer free accounting & taxation services to any business directly affected by the bushfires in Australia for 2020 in a bid to assist those in business with their financial recovery.

Businesses destroyed, damaged, or that have ceased trading as a result of the Australian bushfires will be given free accounting services for the 2019-20 tax year, a Victorian accounting firm has pledged.

R J Sanderson & Associates Managing Director, Roy Sanderson, said the company hoped its decision to waive fees for businesses destroyed by, or that have ceased trading because of, bushfires would help to alleviate some of the stress associated with financial recovery.

“With 10 offices around Australia, including rural offices in Wangaratta and Albury, our team can see the impact first hand and are reaching out to assist businesses in times of emotional and financial stress,” Mr Sanderson said.

The “no strings attached” offer to all affected businesses is made to all businesses affected by the bushfires.

For businesses not directly affected but indirectly affected with a reduction in sales or turnover for the current financial year, Mr Sanderson said that RJS will discount the accounting fees for 2020 by the same percentage decrease in sales or turnover.

“For example, a Country Bakery was not burnt or destroyed by the bushfires but the turnover for the current financial year have dropped by 50% due to the lack of visitors or tourism to the area,” Mr Sanderson said.

“RJS will only charge accounting fees of 50% of what they paid to RJS or any accounting firm for theyear ended 30 June 2019.”
