Unique Model Search Showcases Australia’s Faces of Diversity
Up to 200 aspiring models, of all shapes and sizes, from all walks of life, will attend the BELLA Unsigned Model Search today at The Stables in North Melbourne.
The unique model search, supported by Melbourne Fashion Week, is open to talent over the age of 18, to kick start a new or supplementary career as a model - no matter dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, or religious or political beliefs.
“Diversity in advertising and fashion is so crucial because it's about belonging. It's about feeling like you are a part of the world and you absolutely deserve to be represented,” says Executive Director of BELLA Management and author of Body Image Warrior, Chelsea Bonner.
Supermodel and passionate diversity advocate Robyn Lawley, will join a panel of judges including iconic Australian model of the 60s and 70s Nola Clark, international model Stefania Ferrario, model and CEO of Flourish Girl Mandy Kota, curve model and writer Jessica Vander Leahy, model, motivational speaker Rhiannon Tracey and model and entrepreneur Toks James.
Up to six winners will receive a three year modelling contract with BELLA Management and walk in a Melbourne Fashion Week Pop-up Runway event on Thursday 5 September 2019 at 1pm. The Pop Up Runway will make its way up Swanston Street via Bourke Street Mall, GPO, State Library of Victoria and then return back down Swanston Street to the Melbourne Town Hall.
