Elite cage fighting comes to Hobart, punching in with an all star lineup

Tasmanian Fighting Championships will host their debut fight night on 18 May at Hobart City Hall. The event is set to launch Tasmania into the combat sports arena, offering a professional cage fighting championship for local talent to weigh in against mainland and international fighters.

Tasmania has never before seen a mixed fight line up, with MMA, K1 Kickboxing and Submission Grappling all on the card across an explosive 10 matches. The TFC debut features an all star lineup including ex-UFC fighter Rob ‘Razor’ Wilkinson who will verse Huonville local Joe ‘The Mad Man’ Tullo. The night will also feature intermission entertainment by Hip Hop artist Stray, who has returned home to Tasmania after touring.

The event is organised by Shaw and Kirrilee Dean, who have always had a passion for martial arts, it’s how they met. They have been planning the elite level championship for years. "This is the best fight show Tasmania has ever seen. We truly believe that Tasmania has some of the best fighters across Australia and we are thrilled to be able to give these athletes a platform to catapult their careers in front on their home crowd.”

“We have been around dozens of fight shows over the last decade and we just returned from South Africa where I [Shaw] competed on EFC, representing Australia. Having the opportunity to witness first hand how an organisation like EFC is run has inspired us to offer an elite level of care and attention to detail in all aspects of this event. We want fighters and their teams to feel well looked after and supported while chasing their dreams. "
