Yes! There coming to town!


It’s the celebration of the 70’s iconic Australian made car, the Holden Torana.


On the 16th 17th and 18th of November 2016, Torana owners from all parts of Australia will congregate with their finest beloved possessions in Nations Capital for the inaugural “Torana Nationals”.


The event will be hosted by the Canberra Torana Club in Canberra over 3 days and will include:


On Friday the 16th A social “get together” in Tuggeranong for participants of the event to re visit friendships across the nation.


On Saturday the 17th of November, a parade of some 150 - 200 cars will travel from Tuggeranong  to the Hall Showgrounds to provide a mini display for locals to see the cars The parade will travel via Isabella Drive, Monaro Hwy, Morshead Dr, Parks Way, Barton Hwy to Hall Village.


Cars will stop for a while at Hall. The public will be able to view the cars as they travel on there route to Hall and at Hall showground itself.


A Dinner will be hosted on Saturday evening at the Vikings Town Centre Club with some high profile dignities in attendance such as: Bev Brock (Peter Brocks partner for a number of years) and a well known celebrity in her own right, Bob Morris (1976 Bathurst Winner and 1979 Australian Touring Car Champion), Sandra Bennet who was one of the first female drivers for the Holden Dealer Team back in 1970 and Joe Falice who was the Holden Motor Sport Manager in the Brock, Harry Firth Days. .


On Sunday the 18th of November, the “Main Event” will see the Torana Nationals extravaganza culminate in a show and shine at Vikings Park Stadium Amsinck Street Wanniassa, with some of the finest examples of Toranas of all models across Australia. The Sunday display will be open to the public 9.00am free of charge and promises to be a feast for the eyes of those who can remember this most famous car or who appreciate the fine art of car mechanics and restoration.


Bev Brock, Bob Morris, Sandra Bennett and Joe Felice will all be in attendance at the Sunday event to talk to the public as well as sign autographs.


The Sunday event will also include jumping castles and face painting for the kids and plenty of refreshments for the family. The Canberra community is encouraged to come along and support the event which be a significant festival for the Tuggeranong Valley and Canberra as a whole..


A Torana Nationals spokesperson said that this event will become one of the major motor shows in Australia and will be held on a regular basis here in Canberra. Event organisers went onto say that they appreciate the community support we have had from the Vikings Club Group in providing the venue for the event and we would like to thank them and our other major sponsors for there support.


Proceeds from the event will be provided to two Charities this year they will be the Canberra Hospital Foundation and Beyond Blue who deal with major heath issues.
