What is an Influencer Score on contact profiles?

Medianet’s Influencer Score is a metric that indicates how influential a contact is across both traditional media and social media. The score is calculated out of 100, with higher scores representing greater overall influence and reach.

Influencer score

You can find a contact’s Influencer Score within their profile, located in the ‘About’ section and is designed to help you quickly assess the potential impact of engaging with a particular contact. It takes into account a range of factors, including:

  • the contact’s role and seniority (for example, Reporter vs Editor)

  • the reach and audience size of their media outlet

  • industry recognition and achievements (such as awards)

  • their social media presence and following

By combining these elements into a single score, you can more easily prioritise who to target in your outreach.

For example, you may choose to engage:

  • emerging contacts who are newer to the industry and building their networks, or

  • highly established figures whose voice carries significant recognition and influence.

Using the Influencer Score alongside other profile insights allows you to tailor your messaging and build more effective, targeted media relationships.
