How do I remove mentions from my search results?

Easily refine your media monitoring results by removing one-off irrelevant mentions without changing your saved search criteria.

The Remove Mentions feature allows you to permanently remove individual mentions from your results after the search has been created and saved. This is designed for situations where you encounter “one-off” or “ad hoc” irrelevant mentions that you don’t want to appear in your results, but are not worth editing at the search building stage.

Once a mention is removed, it cannot be restored, and it will no longer appear in exports or dashboards for that search.

Why remove mentions?

  • More relevant results – Remove irrelevant mentions without altering your main search criteria.
  • Improved reporting accuracy – Ensure dashboards, exports, and analysis reflect only relevant mentions.
  • Time-saving – Avoid unnecessary edits to your search setup for rare, unrelated results.

How to remove mentions

  1. Locate the mention you want to remove in your Saved Searches results page.
  2. Hover over the “X” in the top left corner of the mention. It will expand to display “X REMOVE”. Click to remove the mention.
  3. In the confirmation pop-up, select Remove mention to permanently delete it from the search results. The confirmation will remind you that this action cannot be undone.
  4. Your results, dashboards, and exports will automatically update to exclude the removed mention.

Note: Removing a mention only affects the specific search where you removed it. If the same content matches another search, it will still appear in that search.

When to remove mentions

  • Ad hoc irrelevant content – A one-off mention unrelated to your monitoring focus.
  • Outliers – Irrelevant coverage that slips through your filters but doesn’t warrant search builder changes.
