Congratulations on the new role! Can you tell us more about what your new role is about? What does your average workday look like?
I'm super excited to be stepping into the role of Gold Social Network Manager. The role is focused on building and nurturing strong relationships with our GOLD partners and social communities, helping them stay connected, informed, and engaged with the opportunities available to them.
A typical day involves developing content and engagement strategies, working closely with the GOLD Digital Content Producers across the country, paying close attention to trends across social channels, and looking for new ways to create meaningful connections with our audience, while also still working full-time on the Jonesy & Amanda show! There's a fun balance of strategy, creativity, and relationship-building, which keeps the role both challenging and rewarding.
What catches your eye when you're looking for a great pitch? And when do you like to be contacted?
The best pitches are clear, relevant, and tell me immediately why the story matters to the audience. I'm always looking for something that is timely, authentic, and brings a fresh perspective rather than simply promoting a product or announcement. I’m not interested in something that reads like an ad. I also want to know how it would benefit the GOLD brand. I appreciate pitches that have done their homework and demonstrate an understanding of the audience we're trying to reach. A concise email with key details, supporting assets, and a clear angle is usually the most effective approach, in my opinion. The easier it is to understand, the more likely it is to stand out.
What has been a career highlight for you?
Winning the Best Digital Content Creator Award and Best Digital Team Award at the 2024 ACRA Awards was a very proud moment for me. It was a wonderful recognition of the creativity, hard work, and collaboration that goes into producing effective digital content, and it reinforced my passion for the industry. It’s a moment that I will treasure for the rest of my life!
What advice would you give to someone working in a digital content role? What's the best way to catch someone's eye?
I love these questions, and I’d have to say always put the audience first. It's easy to get caught up in what we want to say, but the most successful content focuses on what the audience wants to hear, learn, or feel. Don’t be afraid to experiment, test new ideas, and learn from the data, but also trust your instincts and creativity! And last but definitely not least, have fun. If you genuinely enjoy what you do, it shows in your work. Enthusiasm is contagious, and when you're passionate about creating content, you're more likely to connect with your audience and continue improving your craft.
Is there anything further you would like to mention or any projects you're excited about in the near future?
As I settle into my new role, I'm looking forward to expanding GOLD’s reach and developing strategies and content that help strengthen our network while delivering real value. I’m also looking forward to working closely with the GOLD Digital Content Producers across the country who are all so outrageously talented. The future of digital content is incredibly exciting, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it.
