Media Alert - Launch of AMA Indigenous Health Report Card 2019

MEDIA ALERT

NO MORE DECAY: addressing the oral health needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians

Launch of the AMA Report Card on Indigenous Health 2019

10 am [Darwin time], Friday 22 November 2019

AMA President, Dr Tony Bartone, will be in Darwin this week to release the AMA Report Card on Indigenous Health 2019, an AMA analysis of the state of Indigenous health across the nation.

The AMA’s Report Cards highlight the successes, progress, obstacles, and failures in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and are important catalysts for further discussion on about how Australia can improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The 2019 Report Card focuses on the oral health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, given the much higher rates of dental disease among Indigenous children and adults than their non-Indigenous counterparts, and the adverse outcomes for their health and wellbeing.

Dr Bartone will be joined at the launch by Danila Dilba Health Service Deputy Chairperson, Ms Shannon Daly, and Shadow Assistant Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Warren Snowdon MP.
