BFC Awarded Gold at International Dairy Awards Event
5th August 2019 ASX CODE: BFC
· Beston Global Food Company awarded “Best Australian Mild Cheddar Cheese” at the 2019 International Cheese and Dairy Awards in Nantwich, England
· Retail sales of Beston’s Edwards Crossing Cheese Range have increased by 206% between April and June, 2019
South Australia’s Beston Global Food Company Limited (ASX: BFC) continues its award-winning streak by winning its 98th award in just 3 ½ years since listing on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2015.
After being awarded the highest accolade at the recent Dairy Industry Association of Australia’s Awards of Excellence for “Best Cheddar Cheese in Australia”, the company’s premium quality cheese has just been acknowledged on a global scale as “Best Australian Mild Cheddar Cheese” at the UK’s International Cheese and Dairy Awards.
This prestigious dairy judging event is the largest cheese awards event in the world and has been held since 1897. This year, over 500 cheese experts judged 5200 entries of the best cheese and dairy products from 27 Countries.
This international recognition is the third year BFC’s Cheddar Cheese has won an award at this event, however, this is the first time BFC has formally submitted its cheese under the company’s name.
For the last two consecutive years, BFC’s skills in crafting innovative solutions assisted in securing an international top honour for one of BFC’s customers, at the same awards event in the UK. Using our customer’s organic milk, BFC’s Master Cheesemaker, Paul Connolly, designed the recipe and created the award-winning cheese which they then submitted into the Competition.
The Company also wishes to advise that BFC have recorded a trebling in the sales of its Beston’s Edwards Crossing Cheese Range, sold domestically through major Australian Retailers.
The Chief Executive of BFC, Jonathan Hicks, said that while it is extremely satisfying for the premium quality of BFC’s cheese to be reflected in the increasing number of awards which the Company is winning in Australia and overseas, the key is to turn these awards into increased sales.
“Pleasingly, we are doing both,” Mr Hicks said. “The sales of Beston’s Edwards Crossing Cheese range have increased by 206% in the last three months.
“Most of this sales increase has occurred in the domestic retail market, through major Australian retailers,” Mr Hicks said.
“BFC is truly a homegrown success story with all its cheese manufactured locally from its factories in Murray Bridge and Jervois, using milk from the dairy farms BFC owns in the South East of South Australia, as well as from its 38 contracted South Australian Dairy Farmers. The current tally of 98 medals in such a short period of time is rapidly building the value of BFC’s dairy products. BFC continues to make its mark as an emerging leader in the Dairy Industry, notwithstanding the complex challenges currently being experienced by the industry.”
