Christchurch, Friday 8 March 2019 – Airbus today launched The New Zealand Aerospace Challenge 2019 in partnership with the city of Christchurch, New Zealand, and the country’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

Throughout the Challenge, which starts in Christchurch today, Airbus will provide geospatial data and mentors to the participants. This includes university students and start-ups, who will aim to use emerging technologies to find solutions to environmental issues. The Challenge will culminate with a “Pitchfest” of ideas in October.

“As a company, we are constantly looking for the best and brightest to help us to solve today’s challenges. This is why we are proud to be a part of the New Zealand Aerospace Challenge; a tangible outcome of our partnership with the New Zealand Government,” said Andrew Mathewson, Managing Director, Airbus Australia Pacific.

“New Zealand has long been recognised as an innovative country with a can-do attitude. The nation’s agriculture sector provides an important backbone to the country and shares our drive to enhance regeneration.”
