Victorian Chamber welcomes new leader of the Opposition

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry congratulates the Hon Michael O’Brien MP on his appointment as Parliamentary Leader of the Victorian Liberal Party.

Victorian Chamber Chief Executive Mark Stone AM said that the Victorian Chamber looks forward to maintaining its strong relationship with the Hon Michael O’Brien and the Opposition to ensure business priorities are front and centre of the political agenda.

“While a majority Government is important to stability and predictability, Victoria also needs a strong Opposition to keep Parliament accountable,” said Mr Stone.

With almost 30-year experience in politics, the Hon Michael O’Brien MP has a significant list of achievements. As Treasurer and Shadow Treasurer of Victoria, the Member for Malvern has shown commitment to his community and to striving for better economic prosperity and growth for all Victorians.

The Victorian Chamber looks forward to working with Mr O’Brien and all sides of politics to create more opportunities for local businesses and jobs for Victorians.

“Victoria’s 590,000 businesses employ 2.5 million people and are the force behind Victoria’s economic success. Stronger business means prosperity and good jobs for Victorians,” said Mr Stone.
